About the
The Time Converter converts between seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years and the sub-second units, using the second as the reference so any pair converts in one step. It is the tool for turning a duration in a log or a spec into units you can reason about: how long a 90000 millisecond timeout actually is, or how many hours a 600 minute job runs. Months and years use fixed 30 and 365 day conventions, which is what most planning needs.
Where people use the
- Turning a millisecond timeout into something readable.
- Working out how many hours a long-running job takes.

- Use fixed 30-day months for planning, and the Date Difference tool for real dates.
- This converts durations, not clock times, so time zones do not apply.
- Type into either field; both directions convert live.
Frequently asked questions
How are months and years counted?
As fixed values: one month is thirty days and one year is three hundred and sixty-five days. That is a planning convention, not a calendar calculation, so use the Date Difference tool when real calendar accuracy matters.
Does it account for time zones or daylight saving?
No. It converts a duration, not a moment. A duration of one hour is one hour everywhere; only wall-clock times are affected by time zones.
Can it convert microseconds and milliseconds?
Yes. Both are included, so values from profiling output and high-resolution timers convert directly.
Why does my month conversion look wrong?
Because real months are 28 to 31 days. If you need calendar months between two dates, use the Date Difference tool instead.
